Finding Ways To Keep Up With Resources

How You Can Control Behavior In The Classroom

When you are teaching students in high school the action that you deal with mostly is inappropriate behavior as well as reduced study skills. Most kids go through behavioral issues, and it is part of growing up. For some it is more severe than others. Special kids can be separated from the regular ones from their behavior. Lets discuss several ways you can control classroom behavior.

Tell the students what your behavior expectations are about. When the school year is starting let them know what you need from them regarding behavior. Come up with rules, and that will govern the class on the first day of course. Go through the rules together with the students and make it a tradition in the classroom. The rules should be accompanied by signs that will be used to warn someone who is making a mistake. Look closely to see if the laws are being developed.

Make sure that their no inappropriate behavior in the class by checking their action and giving them feedback. If you have a student who is continuously having lousy behavior keep a close eye on them and also avoid it at an early stage. When a student behaves in a bad away warn them using a stern voice and gestures. When the practice is right it will be nice if you reward them.

The practices will be followed if you reinforce then using social, edible, negative, tangible and activity reinforcement. Instead if giving physical reward when someone has good behavior provide those tokens every time they are right. For a later day the tokens can be used as backup reinforcement. If the students are more advanced in age you should use contingency contracts. These types of deals are a decision that both you and the student agree on, saying what reward they will get if they have good behavior. Behavior can also be taught by shaping, shaping involves taking steps in showing good behavior. This technique can either be used to guide new behavior or reinforce the ones that already exist.

Explain your behavior expectations using a model. When one of the does something good use them to teach the others how they should behave. If you are dealing with a particular student use people of their age to teach the kind of behavior they should have. This way you will be meeting on both sides. The student should be part of the behavior management program by being part of coming up with the goals, making sure they don’t make a mistake on their own and even by evaluating how they have done and how they should be rewarded. Parents should not be left out when it comes to behavior management programs.
