The introduction to his book was written by Dr. Oz, who sent many of his patients to Dr. Gaynor for treatment, like many other doctors, when their treatment plan was not working.

Dr.Gaynor, takes an integrative approach to medicine and offers very good advice on food, drink and natural substances worth using to stay healthy, such as olive oil, milk and coconut oils, green tea, chamomile tea, broccoli, Brussels sprouts , juices etc.

But his plan goes far beyond eating healthy foods, but seeks to harness the power hidden in food to change our genetic predisposition to disease. In this approach, Dr. Gaynor draws from a branch of research known as ecogenetics.

Dr. Gaynor discusses how we can understand how ecogenetic food changes our genetic blueprint and provides scientific data to support alternative therapies and age-old practices. A key approach is to use the identified nutrients to combat disease and promote good health. This approach is called “nutrigenetics” and is a cornerstone of the Gene Therapy Plan.

Then, in Part II, the author presents sample meal plans, recipes, and ways to make juices, smoothies, and snacks. The recipes are very good; I have tried a few and am waiting for many more.

After reading this book, I have made some changes in my life. Now I’m replacing my flavored coffee cream with coconut milk, went back to drinking green tea and switched to orange, orange, and lemon teas, and I’m making sure broccoli and Brussels sprouts are in my weekly meals. This book is definitely worth reading; it will provide many new insights and motivation to introduce changes for a healthier life.
